Information is provided by the Grayslake Park District, and testing results via the Lake County Health Department.
Jones Island is scheduled to be tested by the Lake County Health Department on the following dates: May 27, June 9, June 23, Jul 7, Jul 21, Aug 4, Aug 18, at Jones Island Beach – North Inland. They only test the water around the public beach area, they do not test the entire lake. The results are back in one day. If there is elevated bacteria in the water, the Grayslake Park District is notified immediately on the following business-day morning by LCHD.
The link below will take you directly to the website with the most up to date testing results for Lake County.

When the Park District is notified of an elevated test result from LCHD, it is posted to their Facebook and website and signs are posted at the Jones Island beach as quickly as possible. Be sure to double check the link above for the testing results and follow the Grayslake Park District on Facebook, especially before swimming.
This is a helpful page regarding the lake treatment, as well as related information, like environmental effects that lawn treatments, fertilizers, etc. can have on our local ecosystem.
Lakefront homeowners typically receive flyers from the committee by default, but if you wish to receive notifications from the town’s Grays Lake Management Committee or learn more, visit their webpage of the Grayslake Park District’s website: https://www.glpd.com/water-management/
For the 2025 calendar year, Grays Lake Park Subdivision NFP's annual dues per household were $150. Annual dues are always subject to change, year to year, as needed. Typically annual dues are due the the GLPS treasurer between the beach clean-up date and annual meeting date.
GLPS members typically gather, sometime between end of April and early June, for the annual meeting. Weather permitting, the meeting is held at the shared park/beach, and members should bring a chair or blanket to sit on.
Each year, the GLPS secretary will try to reach out to members around the end of February or early March to gain feedback on preferred date of the meeting for that year, as well as to collect any topics or proposals people would like added to the meeting agenda, and to inquire about any people interested in running for board positions (president, treasurer, and secretary; 2-year terms) that may be up for elections at the end of any given year. The secretary will try to provide an agenda to the GLPS members at least 30 days before the meeting date, so neighbors know what to expect at the upcoming meeting.
After the meeting, the secretary will post the unofficial/unapproved (they are technically considered "unapproved" until they are "approved" at the following year's meeting) meeting minutes (and may also include an action plan chart based on what was discussed at the meeting) to the "GLPS Secured Documents" digital folder, which can be accessed via the link in the menu at the top of this website.
Neighbors gather each spring, typically the week before or week of the village's free yard waste pick-up date, which tends to take place in early or mid-April. This is not a mandatory event, but is a good community-building opportunity and way to take care of the shared park/beach area together, to kick-off "beach season," each year.
It is recommended that neighbors who attend the clean-up bring a yard waste bag, and may also benefit from bringing a rake, leaf blower, and/or gardening gloves.
The park/beach has a few consistent service providers:
Ruben Mancilla (landscaper): 847-875-3062
Naturescape (lawn treatment company)
The Branch Office (tree health): Mike Quinn; 847-362-9885; mikequinn7580@gmail.com
